Meditations by Marcus Aurelius

Have been reading this classic for the last few days.
What surprised me was that I too had a very similar Meditations or Letters to Self.
Co-incidentally, my own 'Meditation', start with a list of people whom I admire , and what I have learned  from each of them, just like that in the book...There is a hell lot of similarities between his and mine, to my surprise..
So, someday, I too can write something like 'Mediations by a Confused Dreamer!'

Philosophy

Perhaps the only rule to follow in ones life is to not to have any rules.

As a child, you were spontaneous. You played when you wanted , you slept when you wanted..You quarrelled at one moment and you reconciled at the other... you smiled now and cried then...life was spontaneous and had no rules..

As you grow up, you start assigning rules..the rational mind slowly takes over the spontaneous heart...And often these are the rules that are set at the behest or perhaps at the the influence of the world around...

And then slowly you realise the futility of many things around...And thats when you want to break out..And the struggle begins..And then you discover Osho!  :P

Anyway ,  lucky are the ones who could preserve their spontaneity of the heart and carelessness about the world !

Philosophy

People do things which make them happy, or proud, or provide meaning to their lives.

You travel for happiness
You spend time with people (friends, family, date, partner, or a complete stranger ) for happiness
You read for happiness
You play for happiness
You seek new experiences for happiness

You toil for things which make you proud..
You seek mastery for feeling proud....

And there are other other things which help you find meaning for your life..

And the challenge is to have that perfect mix of those three...
